The Ballgown Makes a Comeback for 2012!

By Anjolique Bridal on November 16, 2011

Return of the Ballgown

One of the most exciting trends in bridal is the return of the ballgown.  But wait, these dresses are not your mother’s ballgown from the ’80s.  These gowns are fabulous creations that make a statement.  From frothy tulle gowns with delicately ruched gathers, to gowns with semi-sheer lace bodices and voluminous skirts, these dresses take the traditional ballgown silhouette to modern flights of fancy!  And who else can make a ballgown more exciting than Eve of Milady, the American couture house whose designer, Eve Muncio, has established herself as the living legend in ballgown design.

The gown featured to the left is a stunning example of the direction the traditional ballgown has taken under the creative direction of Eve Muncio.  Yards and yards of silk are adorned with swarovski crystal studded silk flowers and delicate feather tendrils.  The bodice of the gown is a semi-sheer alencon lace cinched with a floral embellished ribbon.  Breathtaking is understatement.  This gown is a work of art!

Make a Dramatic Entrance!

The textured skirt has many interpretations this season.   The dress at left, Antoinette, by Ian Stuart, is an exquisite example.  Silk satin bows, a richly embellished silk bodice, and a frothy gathered tulle skirt make for an entrance that is both dramatic yet traditional.  Whether you are getting married indoors or outdoors, this gown will captivate everyone who lays eyes on you!

Brides have more selection now than ever before!  At Anjolique, we have over 400 of the world’s most beautiful gowns in every silhouette–from the sleekest fit-and-flare gowns to the most dramatic of ballgowns imaginable.  It’s your day to shine!

The gowns featured here are available exclusively at Anjolique!  Call us for more information or to schedule an appointment to see our fabulous collection!

How to choose your Bridesmaid Dresses

By Anjolique Bridal on July 5, 2011

How to choose a bridesmaid dress Anjolique Bridal Charlotte NCThere is no right or wrong way in choosing your bridesmaids dresses, so this blog entry is not about who is right and who is wrong.  However, after working with brides for the past eight years, we have found that there is a method that works best.  Just like you would go to a professional for advice on matters that you do not deal with on a daily basis, you should take advantage of the professional bridal stylists at Anjolique to assist you in putting your wedding party’s wardrobe together. Why?

Our bridal stylists are trained by the designers in choosing bridesmaids dresses that will best complement your gown.  We also assist you in choosing the right fabric and coordinate your colors.  This can be a daunting task for a bride to do on her own.  When you work with a professional bridal consultant at Anjolique, we  help you understand the differences in the garments, the construction, the fabric, colors, delivery dates, sizes, body types, and the myriad of other questions that come up in selecting your attendants’ dresses.

When you come in  for a bridesmaids consultation, your stylist at Anjolique will help you select a group of dresses that will complement your dress.  It is best to come in with one additional person during the consultation so that you can focus on what you really want and so that you don’t become deterred by too many opinions.  We have seen bridesmaids appointments degrade into mayhem because the bride brought too many individuals with her and no one could agree on anything.  Remember, the most important opinion is your own.  So, choose a dress you love in the colors you love.  If you want your maids to be part of the selection process, please please please, pre-select a group of dresses for them to to look at before bringing them in.  Then, have them choose from this pre-selected group.

Planning a wedding is an exciting time, but it has its stresses.  One of them should not have to be choosing your attendants’ dresses.  If you work with our bridal consultants at Anjolique, we will assist you in making this a great experience for everyone in your bridal party!

To Veil or Not to Veil…That is the question!

By Anjolique Bridal on May 4, 2011

wedding veil charlotte nc anjoliue bridalSo, has the veil gone the way of the dinosaur?  We’ve seen a number of brides come in lately who say “Oh, I don’t want a veil”  But, then a strange thing happens….They try a veil and suddenly, everything changes.  Why?  What makes a veil so irresistible?
Maybe its the fact that most women will only wear a veil once in their life–on their wedding day.  Or maybe its the vision that many girls have held since childhood that they will be wearing a veil when they get married.  But I believe its a lot more than that.

When you put the right veil with a dress, the visual image suddenly goes to another dimension.  You now have a “look” instead of just a dress.  The goal all stylists have when dressing their brides is to achieve a “look”, not just sell a dress.  The right veil helps create and complete the bride’s look, whether it is one of drama (with a catheral length veil), or vintage elegance (with a whimsical birdcage veil).  Brides should use the veil to their advantage.  If you want a more vintage look but your dream gown seems a tad modern, take a look at different veils that can give your look a more vintage aura.  If your gown is modern, but you want to incorporate a bit of tradition, a veil can bridge that divide as well.

And veils have come a long way!  Brides have so much to choose from today, and at Anjolique we carry a vast inventory of over 100 veils to choose from.  Birdcage veils, crystal edge veils, scrollwork edge veils, fingertip veils, angel-cut veils, cathedral length veils, royal length veils, shoulder length veils, lace edge veils–the options are endless.

One this is for sure: When you find the right veil, you’ll know it.  You’ll look at yourself in the mirror and see the transformation of “wearing a dress” to “having a look”.
